Frequently Asked Questions
About our mattresses
Why does Ubed not use foam, latex or natural filling, but does use polyester?
This is based on the three most important properties of your mattress: ventilation, comfort and durability. First of all, polyester has much higher air and moisture permeability. Moisture does not remain in your mattress, but is given space to evaporate. Secondly, polyester is very elastic, which provides you with comfortable support and reduces the chance of holes forming. Finally, polyester remains beautiful for a long time, you do not have to glue it into your mattress so you can replace layers and it is 100% recyclable.
Ontdek 3D polyester.
But polyester is plastic, doesn't it get warm quickly?
No, polyester is made from a synthetic fiber. It is not without reason that polyester is often used as a material for sportswear. The fabric does not absorb moisture but 'pushes' it out to evaporate. Materials such as foam and latex have an insulating and absorbing effect, making the material warmer and absorbing moisture faster. With the 500 milliliters of moisture you lose per night, polyester is also a much fresher choice.
So how do I sleep cool in the summer and warm in the winter?
With an Ubed 3D mattress you always sleep cool in warmer temperatures, because the use of polyester gives moisture and heat space to evaporate. It is important that you do not cover the ventilation with a molton or a fitted sheet with a dense structure. Our linen fitted sheets are perfect for promoting ventilation. On nights when the temperature is lower, you can choose to remove ventilation from the mattress with a molton or a fitted sheet with a dense structure.
Is the mattress suitable for all types of sleepers?
Certainly! Our mattress is designed from the bottom up for optimal support and comfort, with four different firmness levels available. This means that side, back and stomach sleepers can all enjoy the desired degree of firmness, and you will never sleep too hard or too soft again.
How do I know which hardness suits me?
To discover which firmness suits you best, you can put together the mattress by clicking on the green button at the top. There you can enter your weight, height and sleeping position, and if applicable, also that of your partner. You will then receive free advice for the hardness that suits you best. It is also possible to test the mattresses and hardnesses in our showroom.
Is the mattress easy to keep clean?
The top of the cover can be washed at 60 degrees with mild detergent. The top layers can be rinsed in the shower and can easily be hung to dry. You can also open the two zippers completely and vacuum the inside for a thorough cleaning.
Is the mattress suitable for people with allergies?
Yes, the Ubed mattress is suitable for people with allergies. It has extremely good moisture and air permeability, making the mattress less sensitive to the accumulation of dust and bacteria. In addition, the mattress is completely washable, making it easy to remove allergens. This makes the mattress a good choice for people with allergies or sensitivities.
Which surface is best for the mattress?
You can place Ubed mattresses on any bed base, even an electrically adjustable one. Due to the built-in comfort layer, no topper is required. We don't even recommend using a topper, as it makes your mattress less ventilated.
How does changing parts work?
A normal mattress lasts a maximum of 10 years. This is because the top layer, which comes into more direct contact with the sleeper, becomes 'material tired' after about 8 to 10 years. While the pocket spring core can last up to 20 years. That's why we decided not to glue anything into the mattress. Over time, you can buy a new top layer and/or cover from us to double the lifespan of your mattress.
Do I sometimes have to turn the mattress over?
The Ubed mattresses should not be turned over. At the bottom is the core that provides support, at the top is the top layer that provides comfort.
About the shipping
What shipping options are there?
Because the mattress is modular, we ship all parts in boxes. The mattress is easy to assemble using our manual. However, if you prefer a fully assembled mattress, that is possible too! We will then bring the mattress in its entirety to your bedroom.
How long will it take to deliver my mattress?
As soon as you place the order, we start producing the mattress. The mattress will be delivered to your home within a period of 4 weeks. During this period you will receive regular updates about the progress of your order.
Do you offer shipping abroad?
We currently offer standard shipping to the Netherlands and Belgium. Are you curious about shipping to other countries? Send your question to hello@ubed.com and we will try to answer as soon as possible.
Can you take my old mattress and recycle it?
We currently do not offer the option to give away your mattress. The reasons for this are that we cannot have the mattresses recycled by our suppliers as they often contain other materials and because it costs money for companies to hand in mattresses to the recycling center, which does not apply to private individuals. Many municipalities offer special collection points where you can drop off your old mattresses, and in some cases you can even make an appointment to have the mattress collected. A collection point can, for example, be a recycling center or a specially equipped collection container. Contact your municipality for the locations and opening hours of these collection points.
About trial sleep and warranty
Can I test sleep on the mattress?
At Ubed we offer you the chance to test sleep on your new mattress for no less than 100 nights. We understand that it may take some time before you fully get used to a new mattress. That's why we give you plenty of time to decide whether you are completely satisfied. If you notice within that period that the mattress does not suit you, we will collect it without any hassle and you will receive a full refund.
What if I am not satisfied with the hardness of my mattress?
Our configurator gives you tailor-made advice about the hardness of your mattress. You can fill this in when ordering your mattress. However, it cannot always be achieved in one go. If the mattress is too hard or too soft after 30 days, we will make a free proposal to harden or soften the mattress.
What if I am not satisfied with my mattress within those 100 days?
Our trial sleep service makes it possible to have the mattress adjusted in hardness free of charge during the first 100 days after receipt. If you are not satisfied with your Ubed mattress, you can return the mattress free of charge from 30 days after receipt. After an online purchase, you always have the right to cancel the purchase 14 days after receiving your product. The purchase must be in its original condition, unused and undamaged. Wrong delivery or a fault in the mattress? We are committed to the highest quality in our mattresses. However, an error can occur during manufacturing or delivery. If there is a problem in the delivery or production of the mattress, you can always contact us so that we can help you solve the problem.
How long do I have a warranty on the mattress?
At Ubed we give you peace of mind with our 10-year warranty on all our mattresses. We are convinced of the durability and quality of our products, so that you can dream on a wonderful mattress for many years to come. You can find out exactly how it works in our general terms and conditions.
What is covered by the warranty?
The 10-year warranty covers defects in the material or construction of our mattresses. If this is the case, our team will do everything they can to resolve this issue. It is important to note that the warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse, careless handling or normal wear and tear. If you have specific questions about the warranty conditions, please feel free to contact us.
Are there any costs for returning the mattress?
No, there are no fees for returning the mattress if we are contacted within 100 days for a return request. Since it takes about 4 weeks to get used to your mattress, we ask you to first try out the mattress for 30 days. If you still believe that the mattress does not suit you, we can always look at adjusting the hardness or ultimately returning it.
About sustainability
Are the materials in the mattress durable?
Ubed mattresses consist exclusively of polyester and metal springs. We currently consciously choose materials that are easy to recycle and that have a modular structure, so that components can be replaced with more environmentally friendly options if necessary. If new techniques are developed in the future, we will certainly investigate these options. If you look for a natural alternative, you will end up with natural latex, which is difficult to recycle in a high-quality manner. In the Netherlands you can call latex natural latex if it contains only 35% real natural latex and the rest is synthetic. The process is relatively difficult and there are currently not many recycling facilities that specialize in latex recycling. Latex is very heavy - the other alternatives are often lighter - intensive to produce but also very expensive.
Where are the mattresses produced?
Our mattresses are produced in Belgium and assembled there by hand, the parts come exclusively from our neighboring countries.
What happens to old Ubed mattresses?
We have an agreement with all our suppliers that the parts of the mattress can be 100% recycled into new materials. When your mattress has reached the end of its life, we are happy to collect the mattress so that we can recycle it into new parts.
